I just had a visit with an old high school friend I haven't seen since the early 80s, Mike Grubbs. I rode over with his brother Dave. We decided we were playing the part of 'old codgers' since we were discussing all our aches and pains and how the teenagers of today aren't nearly as mature and respectful as WE were!
And to think, the three of us never thought we'd live to see thirty.

A rainy Saturday. First time it's rained in weeks and the earth is saying ahhh. Perfect weather for working on the new web site and welcoming in some cooler weather in this the first week of fall.
I was thinking about the whole Rolls Royce post from Thursday and it begs the question :
Do you pump your own gas when you drive a four hundred thousand dollar car?
                                       Whadda you think?

Friday morning and no sign of the hitch hiking bug. That is untill about 10 miles into the drive back out to my route when it reappeared on the wiper. Sheesh! So I drove it around another fifty miles untill I pulled up under a live oak tree and it was brushing my windshield when I realized that was really where Mr. Mantis belonged. So gently coaxed him onto that limb and said farewell. Maaaaan, can you imagine the stories he's going to tell his friends !!

Hiya!
This Preying Mantis landed on my windshield wiper about noon today. Amazingly, It hung out there all day. ALL DAY! For 75 miles. Twenty five of those miles included the 70 mph ride back to UPS. It was still there when I parked and went home.
I think the Mantis was there to remind me not to be bugged by stuff I cant understand.
So earlier today I'm driving through a really upscale neighborhood on my route and one of the residents has just left her million dollar home in her Mercedes SL550 Roadster convertible. (base price $105,000.00) No big deal, cars like that are fairly common in this area. THEN her husband pulls out into the street and stops to check the mail box in his 2013 Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe (base price $ 398,000.00 - $470,000.00) and I was blown away by the fact that I had just seen over half a million dollars in two automobiles. Cars. Metal and glass.
Wowser.
